Hey Mom
Thanks so much for the great package! i sure loved it , and me and my companion are really enjoying the candy. Everything is going really well here mom. I cant believe time is going so fast. Gentrys already going on a mission ! thats pretty amazing! I am the one that felt like a million bucks with that package you guys sent with all of the cards. This last week was a tough one, Its been raining for 4 days straight! But besides that everythings is going good.This week we were asked to give a blessing for a guy that hasent eaten or talked for 5 days. He is pretty much waiting for death, i think he was depressed or something, but mom ive never seen anyone as close to death as that man did laying there. But i gave the blessing and i know that the spirit spoke through me. He didnt get up after the prayer or any great miracal like that, to tell you the truth i dont know what happened to him because we left right after the blessing. But i know that i left it up to him and the lord. I sure love you mom and im learning a lot here. Some hard lessons some times but its helping become who i must become.

Thanks so much for the great package! i absolutly loved it . I will be set for the rest of the mission now dad, Thanks so much for the sacrifice you guys made to put it together. Dad thanks so much for your continuing support. This past week, I have reflected a lot on death, and our lifes here on the earth. I had a question put infront of me in the book of mormon that asked , if you were to meet the strains of death in this very instant, would you be ready to meet your great lord and savior. ( Alma 5:27) And other things happened this week that has really troubled me . If i was scared to die, what it would be like , if i really am ready. I answered my question like this, These past few weeks i havent really thought that my work was good enough. I really dont know if i would be ready to meet my great lord and savior now. But i want to live so that i am more and more confident everyday. I thank you so much dad for your great support. You are pushing me so well. And tell the whole Rowland Family thank you so much for those wonderful cards. I loved them , Sounds like you had a great time at the family reunion. I love you Dad.

Thanks so much for what you said. You probably do not know this but you recieved ispiration. I was being really troubled this last week because of death and things like that. Me and my companion were looking for this investigators house. and on the map he lived about at the end of the world. So we went there and on the way we saw the town cemetary. I have never seen something like that in my life. Everyone is buried above the ground, some people even have houses. But i noticed something about the feeling i felt there. I felt an emptyness. a weird feeling. And i started to think, how hard would it be to die? Am i ready? Am i sufficianty prepared. And then other things happened that week that was made me think even more in death. I am sincerlly greatful, for life after death. This life is tough, And like you said there are so many people that shape us into what we are today. I was reading about what happened to you, and as i was, i felt that you did the right thing ash. Dont worry, everything will turn out fine for you. There is so much happening in the world today ash, the advisary is increasing his forces. The lord needs you more than ever. It is tuff , this life, but it can be made so much lighter if the light of the gosple is in your life. I love you ash, im so proud of your dicision to serve, your very brave. Thank you for your example.

Hey Mom
How are things going there mom? Thanks for the pictures. Ill be getting the package on friday, because thats our zone conference. But i will let you know what i think of it next monday. Mom things are going really great. Im so happy to hear that logan is going to timberline. that brings back so many memories. And even though i thought some days were a living hecK, i would love to do it all over again. Thats so neat, i made some good friends and learned a lot of cool things there. Thanks for everything mom. Thats so crazy that tyson is already back! wow, when i was leaving , his dad talked to me about him being out for a year and how he was doing really great in the language. Time is flying. Thanks so much for everything mom. I love you . I know ive been a bit lazy about sending pictures but i think next monday you guys will get some , i sure LOVE YOU MOM

How are things going dad. Thanks so much for all that you said dad, When i was at home it seemed like you could read my mind, and that you knew my problems and difficulties, and exactly what would help me out. IT was almost scary how good you were at knowing these things. And know , here i am 6000 miles away and its not any different. Thanks for the insperation and great advise dad. Being that next friday or sunday , im not sure which day exactly, but i know its fathers day. I just wanted to let you know dad that i love you. In my patriartical blessing it says that i knew you and mom before coming to this earth. I know that these feeling of love run deep. I know , that without a shadow of a doubt that you would give your life for me and would do all in your power to help every one of your kids from harm and danger. THANKS so much for keeping me away from that danger.As you helped rais us you showed that protection and love. You are truly a DAD. Thanks dad for everything. I sure love you DAD and know that your helping me out more than you know, even 6000 miles away.

Hey Dad
Well im in a place called the "The Pond of Rats!" But so far i havent seen any rats. Its really a beautiful place , and really cold! For some reason the last missionary that was there took almost all the blankets in the house, so between me and my companion, we had just 2 blankets!, And it doesnt snow here , but there is frost every morning! so we had to borrow some blankets froms some members. But everthing is going really well here. Its a branch here so the ward is extremly small. There is probably 30 members, and instead of having a chaple , the church bought a little food store, and made it into a church. Its pretty cool. Ill send you guys pictures of it. My new companion is elder Braz, Hes a brasilian too. He is on his last transfer and is working really hard . I really like him, he's great. Im improving everyday. I wanted to tell you dad that im doing better in talking to people about the church. almost every morning i said to myself, " okay, this is the day that im going to talk to everyone and give away a book of mormon and i wont be shy!" And then i wouldnt talk so much to very many people. but on day , the president of our branch said that " Its dificult to recieve Inspiration from the lord if you arent being obediant." that really got to me. i dont want to go through my mission never recieving insperation or special experiances like that. So i was also reading (sorry this is so long) a thing by president kimbel that we want to be excited to do this work and show people your happieness and love for the lords work and glory. So i grabbed a book of mormon and i finally did it... im talking with people, im doing what the lord wants me to do. I know that the lord is helping me, and the confidence you guys have in me is doing wonders for me. I love you Dad!.

Thought id give you an update on how things are going around here. They are going great! There are tough days and fun days filled with joy , but they are all worth it. I Cant believe iv been gone for 9 months! But i am greatful for the time i have here. I should be getting your package in august, because thats our zone conferiance. Thanks for everything mom. I have a post office right next to my house so ill be sending a lot more letters now. Give everyone my love and i want you to know how special you are to me mom. i sure love you!.

Hey dad and mom!
Thanks for the email dad. i am so glad to hear that everything went well . I now that it must have been just wonderful. Right know im in a Internet house that will be my last time here in this area. i found out that im being transfered to someother place , but im not sure where yet. But im really excited, and kinda sad at the same time because i grew really close to some people here. I am really greatful that i had the opportunity to serve here. Everything is going great dad. There are really so many blessing that im reciving from the lord. I cant help but be greatful for the lessons im learning . I think how much better prepared i will be to be a father like you dad. Thanks for the prayers and the love.

Hey dad
I know exactly how you feel about grandpa leaving a big hole. And like you said there are so many people in our lives that are especially there to help your needs to become as the lord wants. i was thinking of grandpa the other day, and Sister Johnson said around the time he passed away that i would find myself just thinking about him and that i would start to cry. She was right , but i cry because of the love he had for all of us, kind of like our savior. I thank you all so very much for the prays dad, they are NOT WASTED . They are divine and sacred and i know that they are helping me. Its funny how things work out like that . You know what i mean. But im sending you some pictures. The first would be the beautiful sunset. the second would be me drinking the southern brasilian drink, and the third would just be of me. Dad im going so much, im learning that though obediance we are blessed . We had a babtism saturday and i got the chance to confirm our investigator. it was really neat. Hello Family!
Thanks so much for the wonderful photos! I cant believe how big you guys are. You all look so different to me . Its so crazy how you guys change after 8 months! I guess that i always thought you would be the same when i came home , but i can already see that it will be a lot different. Things are going great for me here and the lord is blessing me a lot.
So the family reunion is coming up this week eh? I hope that everything works out great , i want to know everything.
Well if you would like me too say something to the whole family , i would like to say that i sure love each and everyone of you. Im so sorry that im not able to write every single person in the family about how much i love them. I always loved the family reunions, it was one of the most anticipated things for me during the year. But give all my love for everyone there.
i hope that all of you have a wonderful time . Tell dad that im not fooled by that rooster, there is only one sam! haha

Mom
I dont mind being your little boy forever, i find that i miss you more and more each day. Not in a bad way. I love Brasil . Mom, besides the email i sent you, i was going to send you a little mothers day gift as well , but i didnt complete my mission. I hope you will forgive me if its a bit late... I am so so sorry mom. Ashley already went through the temple by now. but tell her congradulations, maybe she knows now why i loved to go almost every week. I love the temples. As the time goes by i am learning a lot mom, and i know the church i true more and more, and i really will be a lot different when i get back. i was incredably blessed when i was in home but i could have had many more blessing and helped others more. Think You are the best mother in the world. I love you MOM!
