Dear Family
Thanks so much for the wonderful emails , For your encouraging words and for your support. I love you all so much. Sounds like you all had a wonderful weekend at grandmas house. It will be so great to see everyone again. The mission is going so great and we are have great success among the lamanite people. haha I hope that everything is going great will all of you guys and if there is any type of heart ache or trial, know that me and Ashley are working and praying for you all. The lord knows our situations. I was able to give my farewell testimony to the missionaries in my mission and it was quite an emotional situation. I cant believe how fast it is going by. The other night I watched the Joseph Smith movie with some investigators and as i watched the movie i had a different perspective on that man that was gods prophet. I am so grateful that I could testify of his divine calling for 2 years of my life. and I know more than ever that he truly was the lords prophet. Thanks for the support and the example that you are to me.
  Love Elder Rowland

Hey guys!!! It is great to hear from you! Sure miss the good old days and visiting grandma. Boy it sure is great to be a Rowland!!!
This week we helped a lady clean her house on saturday so she would have no excuse to miss chruch. We are teaching her and her husband and it is really great. I have learned in the mission that preparation (Planning) is the key to all our worries.   If we will just ask the lord to help us get our ducks lined up, and then do our best a little at a time, we will accomplish everything we hope to.

It is such a blessing to be in the constant service of others.  I know that as we serve the people around us, we bless them and our own lives get better too. I challenge you guys this week to look for more opportunities to serve eachother. I know how easy it is to serve people who arent in our family, but this week i want you all to be creative and find ways to lighten each others burdens.  Leave notes, go find that stupid troll that appeared when something was cleaned magically, and just be grateful for the blessings we have.

I love you all so much! Keep moving forward! Be smart! Say your prayers each day and the lord will take care of the rest!

Love your daughter and sister

Hey dad. I just wanted to tell you Happy Birthday and that I love you. There are some things that I have seen here on the mission. I am here to tell you and everyone that you are one in 30 million.

I have been in countless homes and talked to countless men here in the huge city of sao paulo brazil. I always knew that my dad was special. But with the experiences and new friends I have met here, I have realized just how special my daddy is.
I know that he was a strong spirit in the pre-existance. I know that he was faithful and did everything that he was asked, even when it was hard. I know he tried his best to help the people around him be better people. I know he developed lots of strong friendships and helped many others achieve their goals.  When i was little, i always liked sitting next to my daddy, and I always knew that he wanted the best for me. He taught me all the things i ever needed to know. He was always a worthy priesthood holder. I could always look to him for a good example, and he was always there when I needed guidance.
He has always had a good sense of right and wrong. He sacrifices. He is willing to help. He is the first to arrive, and the last to leave. He magnifies his callings. He is intelligent. He is valiant. He is courageous. He is dignified and dilligent.

I only have 2 more minutes...but I just want you to know dad, that I love you. I really know how special you are. I love you, and I miss you! So come home!!!  Have a great birthday and dont worry, everything will all work out becuase of your faithfulness and dedication to the gospel and the lord.

Love you Dad!
Your missionary, Sister Rowland

Thanks so much y'all for the wonderful emails. Mom thanks for sending the memory Card. I haven't been to the mission office yet to see if i received it but im sure i did. That is such a great goal that you guys can complete. I am trying to do the same thing. Dad i Was at a sisters house and we helped her fold her laundry. and it reminded me of the time that we would all get together and fold those huge piles of laundry. And then logan put a bra in my pile...Little chancho.. haha. Thanks for the great scripture dad , that is so true. I love the gospel so much. this last week we learned that the first presidency wanted us to change the routine a little with our teachings. And that is why we need a prophet, because he knows the way. The new way of teaching is so much more affective and it helps us work with the spirit. This last week i did a division with an American missionary named Elder Reidhead, and he was an all star in football in Arizona. He was telling me about some type of college called Pheniox College , And Grand Canyon state University, Places where you can get payed college and a paying job as well. I was wondering if you could look that up a little bit for me just to get some more informations on it when i get home. We had so many great experiances this last week, I love the mission. I received also some informations on my flightplanes. I will be leaving from porto Alegre to sao paulo at 2:00 pm October 20th and i should meet up with Ashley in sao Paulo at about 4:00 Pm and i am not sure what time my plane to the united states leaves but im sure that you will get the itinerary. Well i have got some good advise for Logan about his doubt. I remember that Coach Reid Said in a young mens conference that if you have a goal , include the lord in it and the stick to it, no matter what. If you want to get up early to practice some ball do it constantly. And stick to it. Thats my advice to Logan. And the same goes for Logan and Jesse boy. I love you all so much. I hope that you all have a wonderful week.

Ashley's email

Hey guys...How are things going? Yesterday i recieved a call that I will be transfered. This week we had a really great week. I learned a lot and we recieved a training about the way we are teaching. I cant tell you   how incredible it is to be a missionary and invite others to recieve the gospel. This week we taught with real power and with the spirit. It was very special and in one house, a man prayed one of the most beautiful prayers i have ever heard for his family. It was really great.

It will be really hard to leave the area AGAIN. I will miss these people very much. I am a better person because of them! And I love my companion so much. I had some really neat experiences with her this week. She told me after I wrote my email that her family is having a pretty hard time, and that she was sorry for taking her worries out on me.  I was too busy thinking about me instead of trying to see if something was the matter.

This week I feel very happy. I know that the lord is helping me so much. It is terrific. Hope you all have a wonderful week. I love you all so so much!

You guys are the greatest!!! I miss you all so much. Please have a great week and watch out for each other. You all make me so happy!
This week i talked in church it was about preparing yourself to teach the gospel
We all need 3 things
 - increase your knowledge about the gospel -by reading scriptures and ensign, and by paying attention in sacrament meeting and other meetings like family night

-develop techniques to share the gospel
we do this by gaining confidence, learning new languages, developing our talents, and having good manners

and develop a strong testimony
this is fundamental and without a strong testimony, it is really tough to share the gospel

i encourage you guys to put these things in pracitce this week.
 i love you all!!!
bye!

Tylers email to dad

Hey dad
Thanks so much for the email. I sure love Dad. I admire you so much and i will need so much help from you still. This life is not easy, but i am so happy for the blessing that the gosple gives me. The very knowledge that we have is a blessing to me, that we can live forever together if we enter into the covinentes that the lord has offered us. Things are going great dad. I have such a great hope for this area. Somethimes i get a little sad at the things that happen with  the people that are trying to find the truth and desist just because they dont think its the time or the right place. This last week. 3 people gave me the book of mormon saying that they didnt want to hear more. There are so many good things that happen here as well. but sometimes satan tricks us into thinking that there is no goodness. But will be strong in this persuite. Thanks for all that you have done for me dad. Happy Fathers Day. I  sure miss you Dad.
  Love

Hey there Family
Mom that is so great that you get to help out with the baptisms and help the missionaries. Everytime that i see people that take the missionaries to the conferences i think that they are just the neatest people in the world. I sure love you mom. Well i am here in Jardim Mirna still. Last week we had 4 baptisms and this week we are preparing 6 others to be baptized. It is such a great feeling helping others. I sure love you mom and i am grateful for the sacrifices that you make to help others. You are such a wonderful example to everyone around you!  I love you Mom!

Thanks for writing me back Maddy Goosey!  You are just a wonderful sister thats all there is to it. I sure miss you and all the funny things we did together. I sure have had cravings for a cherry cheesecake sunday from arctic circle lately. Oh oh oh....cheserey would have never done that to my leg....he probably couldnt reach it.  I know you are living righteously and following the spirit mad, I am sure he is a wonderful guy. I cant wait to meet him after the mish.   Keep up the great work and keep praying for me okay? I love you Maddy!

Jesse...all those things you did sound so flippin sweeet! I loved going on the activities like that because it is so easy to feel the spirit. This week we had an activity in the ward and we watched the testaments. It was really great. Everyone felt so happy and so hopeful after. I think it is great that we have these wonderful opportunities to be spiritually lifted. It is so wierd how fast time goes by. Take advantage of all those special moments while you can. It is hard to believe you are already going to be a JUNIOR.. wow. Thanks for all the stories and the encouragement jesse boy! Treat yourself to some panda express for me this week hahaha.   I love you!

Logan boy.... wow you are random!!! But i sure love you for it Log!  This week was crazy but I met 4 boys who are your age and we are going to prepare them to be baptized. I told them all about you and it is going to be great after the mission because there will be plenty of chances for you to meet them. They have a lot of challenges with family. It makes me glad to have the family I have. I know you keep me in your prayers and this is such a blessing. I dont think anyone has ever prayed for them before....Keep them in your prayers too okay buddy boy? Have a great week and smack the roof of the car for me this week hahahaha. I love you Logan!

Russ - what a special brother you are. I lvoe you so much. This week I gained a stronger testimony about fasting. I fasted for a few things and the lord gave me 20. It is so neat to be a missionary and to help others.  This week I was helping a family learn about the church website on the internet. It is really cool...they have small videos now that are really great. There was one about two brothers who were walking down a lane and saw some shoes. they younger boy said lets hide these shoes and hide and watch what happens when the man comes back and cant find his shoes. The older one said I have a better Idea...   well this story is so touching and for family night tonight you guys can watch it and find out what happens!!! Its www.lds.org then you go to the bottom of the first page and click Browse all Mormon Messages on LDS.org  It is called Lessons I learned as a boy.  or click here http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?autoplay=true&index=4&locale=0&sourceId=e16bb0333ee92210VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=bd163ca6e9aa3210VgnVCM1000003a94610aRCRD
So anyways I know you will like it. It reminded me of you and logan or of jesse and tyler. how grateful i am to be your sister russ. You always had a special way of thinking about other people first. I know you are praying everyday and that you look for ways you can help others. You are preparing yourself well to be a super missionary! Keep up the good work bud! I love you so much. Everytime i think about you and your great smile, my eyes start to water and burn with that familiar feeling of love that you feel when you are far away from someone. I love you B-Russ!

Hey dad. Just wanted to say Thanks for all you have done. You have the best family in the world and i am proud to be your little girl. I know you have done things right, even when it was hard. I sure have learned a lot out here. I know you will recognize me when you see me in the airport, but I have changed a lot spiritually. I wont be the same when I get back. The work here in Brazil is demanding, but i know the impact is everlasting. What a blessing it is to be a part of our dear family. I know I must have done something right in the pre-existance to be blessed with our family. Here i really have discovered how rare a united, loving family is. It makes me want to help them even more, because i know how sweet it is to have a father who holds the priesthood and a mother who truly loves and cares for her children. Little by little the lord is blessing other families. I am so grateful to be a part of this work. I know our Savior lives and loves each of us.
Thanks for your service in our home and in the ward. I look to your dedication and determination to do your best as a daily example for my life. I love you daddy!

Have a great week okay guys! I love you all so much!!!!!!! Hugs and kisses for all my cousins, aunts, grandmas, grandpas, uncles and EVERYONE hahaha

Hey there Family
Thanks so much for the wonderful emails that you have sent me. Mom You sound like the coolest mom in the world. Everytime that i see people that take the missionaries to the conferences i think that they are just the coolest people in the world. I sure love you mom. Well i am with my new companion and his name is Elder Videira. I have more time on the mission than he does as a member of the church. I have a great respect for him. He has a true desire to share the gospel with everyone. I sure love you mom and i am grateful for the sacrifices that you make to help others.
Thanks for writing me back maddy. I sure love you a ton. You are just a wonderful sister thats all there is to it. I cant wait to meet the guy it will be great. how did you two meet.? I love you so much Maddy
Hey there logan, and Russ. I think that those mixed up words that you sent me , is a name of a japenese plane maybe. But i don't know. Sounds like summer is just about coming to an end. But i am so proud of you and russ. You two are my little heroes . You a great examples for me. I sure love you both. Make the most of the time you have together.
Dear Jessee boy. sounds like you had a great time up in salt lake. I would really like to do all the things that you guys did up there. I always wanted to go down Alpine on that Slide.
This last week was really neat. We had some great experiences and some great lessons with some people. A couple that we are teaching has decided to be baptized, and they will get married. Which will be my first couple to Baptise on the mission. They are so willing to do what we ask them to, and they are being so blessed because of it.
These last few nights i have had some crazy dreams. I believe that it is because the time is coming to an end. But i do not let the time phase my work. This week i learned a bit more about the Law of tithing. We  helped the couple we are teaching to understand that it is important to pay our tithes. We helped them with the words of Nephi when he said, Let us be loyal in the completing of the lords commandments, because he is more powerful than all things. I think its 1nephi 4:1
Well i want you all know that i love you all so much. I want you to know that i am excited to finish this work with all the strength and learning that i have gained while i have been here.
